God bless Reggaetón.

Last week, J Blavin was poised to big a big winner at this year's Latin GRAMMYs. What the Colombian-bred Reggaetón artist got instead was a series of snubs closely paralleled by the same instances of exclusion often experienced by Hip-Hop at the GRAMMYs, pointing toward the work that the Latin Recording Academy still has to do when it comes to the inclusion and genuine acceptance of the genre.

Now, timed perfectly, Balvin has come through with his latest track, aptly-titled "Reggaetón." The cut which takes on the sound of old-school Reggaetón soundscapes is an ode to all those who paved the way as Balvin acknowledges the Puerto Rican roots of Reggaetón, name-dropping the likes of Daddy Yankee and Tego Calderon.

Per usual, any lack of literal comprehension is overshadowed by the blessed rhythm. Get into it.

Quotable Lyrics

Ya tú sabes quienes son
Me resalto del montón
Dios bendiga el reggaetón, amén
Hasta abajo, así soy yo
Yankee pa’ esta me inspiro
Bajo fuerte como ron
Falda con mi pantalón, bailando reggaetón
