Nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards will be announced today at 11:25 AM EST in Los Angeles. The ceremony will also take place in LA, and is slated for September 17, 2018, at the Microsoft Theater. The hosts from Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update, Colin Jost and Michael Che, will be hosting this year's award ceremony. Speculative predictions have already placed Game of Thrones at the front of the pack, but Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale and Donald Glover's Atlanta should snag a handful of nominations as well.

Game of Thrones was absent from last year's Emmys due to the timing of their season. The year-old seventh season will finally contend at the award ceremony, and expectations are high. Although the pacing was somewhat suspect (Jon Snow was traveling distances that once took entire seasons in an episode) the last season of GoT was epic on every level. Last year, with the absence of Game of Thrones, The Handmaid's Tale jumped ahead as the leading drama series. Donald Glover took home the Emmy for Best Actor in a Comedy Series last year, and is positioned to do the same this year. 2018 will also be the first award ceremony is six years where Julia Louis-Dreyfus will not win the Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Veep, allowing a new comedy queen to be crowned. Stream the entire nomination announcement ceremony below.
