Earlier today (May 16) it was reported by French publication Premiere that Donald Glover was set to star in his own solo Star Wars movie. At the moment, Glover stars alongside Alden Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Paul Bettany and Thandie Newton in the new Solo: A Star Wars Story film that is set to drop in two weeks. The movie has been getting rave reviews, and people who have viewed the movie are praising both Ehrenreich and Glover for their performances. The news that Glover would get his own Star Wars spinoff, based on Lando Calrissian, who he plays in the Solo film, filled the internet with excitement. In turns out that it was simply a miscommunication between Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy and a French journalist.
"We think that the next spin-off will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian," was the original translation that was reported. "Of course, there are still many stories to tell about Han and Chewbacca, but Lando will be next." Premiere was forced to release a subsequent statement that cleared the air on what could have been the biggest Star Wars news of the year. "Following the publication of our article Lucasfilm informs us that there would have been a misunderstanding between our journalist and Kathleen Kennedy," the publication wrote. "'We would love to tell a story about Lando Calrissian one day, but it's not relevant, it would be fun to tell the story of Han and Chewie,'" is the corrected quote.
