It's been nearly seven years since Odd Future was introduced to the masses since Tyler, The Creator dropped "Yonkers." Since then, they became one of the most notable and iconic collectives of our generation and had a major hand in shifting how music is these days. Tyler's sound specifically has evolved and his album Cherry Bomb was one project that helped showcase his talents as a songwriter even further. The album dropped in 2015 but it looks like he's facing some trouble over one of the songs on the project.
According to The Blast, Tyler, The Creator and Odd Future are facing a new lawsuit for allegedly lifting Dee Edwards, "Why Can't There Be Love." The report claims Ubiquity Records Inc., who are the owners of the song, say that OF lifted the beat and used it to make "Deathcamp" off of Cherry Bomb.
In the suit, Ubiquity Records Inc. is seeking all the profits they've made off the song since its release in 2015 as well as an injunction from Tyler and co. for continuously profiting off the song. They're also seeking $750K in statutory damages.
Aside from this, the rapper's gearing up for a heavy festival run this summer. The rapper will kick things off with Coachella in April before doing shows at Soundset and Primavera in Spain.
We'll keep you posted on any news pertaining to the lawsuit. Peep both songs below.
