In some ways, it seems as if it all started with Rich Brian (then known as Rich Chigga's) viral, fanny-pack sporting "Dat Stick." From that point on, Asian hip-hop collective 88Rising brought plenty of mainstream rappers into Brian's world, culminating in a genuine remix with Ghostface Killah. Slowly but surely, Asian rap began to pop off in North America; Keith Ape linked up with Ski Mask The Slump God, and Higher Brothers linked up with Famous Dex. It seemed as if Western audiences were amendable to the 88Rising thesis statement, and since than, the collective have been expanding their foothold on the market.
Coming off the success of recent BlocBoy JB collaboration "Let It Go," the 88Rising unit have officially announced a release date for their upcoming album Head In The Clouds. Taking to Twitter to share the cover art, 88Rising revealed their upcoming compilation album will be dropping on July 20th, with new music from Rich Brian, Higher Brothers, Niki, Joji, Keith Ape, August 08, Don Krez, Kohh and more.
