Initial reports indicated that Eminem's Kamikaze was on pace to move 200,000 first week units. It would appear that Em has since gone on to defy expectations. Maybe it's due to all the smoke Kamikaze stirred up, but Em has once again managed to captivate the attention of the masses.
While Em's projected increase does not solidify him the year's biggest first week, it does slide him into the top five alongside some impressive company. Drake's Scorpion leads the pack with 732,000 units sold. Travis Scott's Astroworld takes second place with 537,000 sold, much to the annoyance of Nicki Minaj. Post Malone's beerbongs & bentleys chugged its way to third, with an impressive 461,000. J. Cole cemented himself as one of the game's most prominent voices with KOD, clocking in at 461,000 units sold. Em finds himself projected at number five, with an expected 360,000 units sold, according to a Billboard report.
With that in mind, expect Kamikaze to enjoy a stay atop the Billboard charts, securing Em his ninth consecutive number one album; even though Revival's first week sales were lackluster by his own standards, it still enjoyed a brief stay at the top. Congrats to Eminem for his latest accomplishment, and be sure to read our review for Kamikaze here.
