Eminem's Kamikaze has once again solidified the divisive, yet undeniably legendary rapper, as the "king of controversy." Upon calling out his myriad detractors, Em's post-album fallout has ruffled more than a few feathers; we've already heard from Machine Gun Kelly, who held it down on "Rap Devil." Now, Joe Budden has weighed in, on his new podcast episode titled "TV & Mayonnaise."
"I heard the album," says Joe, addressing Em directly, "and because I don't think you know all the members that were in the group, I don't really think you know our history. Let me tell you what Joe Budden has thought this entire time. I've been better than you this entire fucking decade!" Letting that one sink in, Joe hits them with a Kanye West-esque "hanh?" for good measure. "In my rapper brain, I'm a content n***a. You gotta say something! You have not said anything for the better part of a whole fucking decade!" Mal chimes in with the ad-lib: "that's true."
"You have rhymed a bunch of words," says Joe. Judging from his heated cadence, it seems likely that Eminem struck a nerve. Was it enough to bring Media Joe back into the booth? Only time will tell. But if Eminem takes offense, there's no telling how far this one might go. A battle between Eminem and Joe Budden would be something to behold, and dare I say, magnificent. And while Joe makes no promises, he does take a minute to talk his shit amid strategically timed "gunfire" sounds (second clip).
"I know you don't know about me," warns Budden, "you better go ask some n***as close to you, I live for this type of shit. All of that rappity-rap, lyrical miracle bullshit, any n***a that want it like that, that think they want it with me? I don't think you would fare well." He closes his rant by alluding to a possible return to the fold, saying "I think it's really corny when retired n***as pop shit about what they coulda, shoulda, woulda done. So, I feel like I'm in control of the rules here, Em. I'm backed now. You're not so much."
