Host James Corden says Kanye sent him a pair of Yeezys to apologize.

James Corden's Carpool Karaoke series has welcomed stars like Bruno Mars, Adele, Paul McCartney, and Justin Bieber to sit in the passenger's seat of the host's car and sing along to some recognizable hits. Honestly, beyond the star power driving the episodes, it's a fairly predictable concept with little payoff. However, in a Spill Your Guts segment with Kris Jenner, Corden has revealed that he's been attempting to get Kanye West involved; a curveball that could bring the show from disposable fluff to must-see TV. Unfortunately, Kanye has bailed on multiple occasions. “We’ve tried. He’s cancelled, twice. Maybe even three times," said Corden. "He cancelled once as I was turning the corner to his house. I was outside his house and they were like, 'He’s not in the zone for it right now. We’ll do it another time.’"

After inconveniencing Corden, Kanye did offer an apology in the form of some gifts. “He did send me a lovely gift. He sent me these incredible flowers in a cube. A cube of flowers, which I’d never seen before, and he sent me a pair of Yeezys," he said. However, the gesture apparently didn't make up for the financial losses of the failed shoots. "People were like, ‘Woah, they’re so expensive,’ and I was like, ‘Yeah! They cost my show $45,000!'." How filming a segment of two people singing in a car could cost anywhere near that much is another mystery.

When it's all said and done, Corden is still hoping to secure an episode with Ye. "We love him, he's my absolute dream, he knows that!" he said.

Corden has already announced his next Carpool Karaoke guest to be Ariana Grande.
