Kanye West stopped by The WGCI Morning Show in Chicago for a discussion that included a wide range of topics including President Trump, Rhymefest, his plans for Chicago, and the latest happenings with his Adidas Yeezy line. Speaking of the latter, 'Ye revealed that he expects the first Yeezy basketball performance sneaker to debut in the NBA this season.
When asked when fans can expect the sneakers to take the court:
“Definitely this year,” Kanye says (H/T Nice Kicks). “I was talking to Eric Liedtke, the head of adidas, about possibly my YEEZY design team — me, Mark Miner, Steven Smith — possibly designing the entire adidas Basketball unit. We’re in conversations about that right now and I’m saying it aloud to put it into the universe.”
WGCI’s Leon Rogers then asked Kanye if he'd be personally selecting the roster of athletes for the upcoming line to which he replied, “Nah. I’m gonna need Don C back to do that.”
It's still unclear exactly what the Yeezy basketball shoe will look like, but multiple prototypes have surfaced suggesting the kicks will come in high-top form.
Listen to the footage in the video embedded below, the Yeezy basketball sneaker talk starts around the 9-minute mark.
