Lou The Human foregoes his usual vibe for a melodic deep cut.

Lou The Human has amassed a loyal following of devotees, due largely in part to his penchant for unflinching lyricism. Yet the game has changed, and thus, the temptation for stylistic experimentation is destined to rear its head. It's not uncommon to hear rappers delivering moody, melancholic and emotional cuts, the modern day "Soundcloud Rap Romance" aesthetic. In what feels like an unexpected turn of events, Lou The Human has served up a song of that very nature, by way of "Empty Bottle."

The tone is immediately set by way of atmospheric synthesizers, and Lou wastes little time in flexing the versatility. "I fell down, I won't get on up girl," he croons, "I need love more than you need love, girl." It's a far cry from his usual modus operandi, and in truth, "Empty Bottle" fails to reach the peaks of Lou's previous highlights. Still, the versatility is appreciated, and we have little doubt that Lou will continue to flourish in the near future. If he does decide to pursue this style, however, some of his die-hard supporters may find their loyalties tested.

Quotable Lyrics

I fell down, I won't get on up girl
I need love more than you need love, girl
My time's been up, my time's been up girl
