Cavill asked, and now he shall receive.

Earlier this Summer, while Superman actor Henry Cavill was on a press run for Mission Impossible: Fallout, he was asked what video game he was currently playing. "The Witcher 3. I just replayed all the way through," Cavill replied at the time, according to IGN. "Love that game. Really good game." When pressed further, Cavill admitted that he was also a fan of the novels that the games are based on, and that he would love to play Geralt, the series' protagonist. "Yeah, that would be an amazing role. The books are amazing," Cavill stated. "The books are really, really good... The books I started reading, and they are well worth a read."

It appears that Cavill spoke his next role into reality, because according to Deadlinehe has been cast as Geralt for the Netflix adaptation of The Witcher. Geralt of Rivia is a monster hunter that finds himself entrenched in a mission to save those he loves in the supernatural thriller. If Netflix pulls The Witcher off correctly, it will be like Game of Thrones meets Supernatural. One can only hope.

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich (Marvel’s Daredevil, Marvel’s The Defenders) will serve as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner for the Netflix series. Hissrich took to Twitter to speak about her choice of Cavill. "He was my first meeting. I didn’t have writers or scripts yet – just a greenlight and a lot of passion," she wrote. "That was four months ago, and I’ve never forgotten the passion he brought. He IS Geralt. He always has been. I’m so thrilled to welcome HENRY CAVILL to the #Witcher family."
