Star Wars: The Last Jedi may have been the most divisive movie in all of Star Wars history. Fans of the series were either extremely happy with, or exceedingly displeased with, the direction Rian Johnson took with the film. The Last Jedi took risks, killed main characters, and set up what should be a truly epic conclusion to the new trilogy.
John Boyega, who plays Finn in the new trilogy, recently visited Awesome Con and spoke about the next Star Wars film. Episode IX, which has yet to be named, will be directed by J.J. Abrams, who helmed The Force Awakens. Although fans will have to wait a year for the movie, that didn't stop Star Wars News Net from asking Boyega about what direction the next film will take.
After asking the movie star what would be next for him, Boyega answered, “Next for me filming wise is Star Wars: Episode IX in July, and they’ve officially given us a note to start training soon."
He continued on to tease an epic war. "I’m going to take a holiday before that, because I think Episode IX you know, regardless of where the story goes, and I haven’t read it by the way, is going to be all out war so I know that I’m going to have to do all I can and train for that.”
Star Wars IX is slated to drop on December 20, 2019.
