The Jacksonville Jaguars today unveiled the team’s new Nike Vapor Untouchable uniforms which offer a much simpler design that is reminiscent of the Fred Taylor days.
The uniform features three jersey options (black, white, teal), three pants options (black, white, teal) and two sock options (standard, color rush teal). A new glossy black helmet will replace the two-toned hats that the Jaguars have used in recent seasons.
Jaguars Executive Vice President of Football Operations Tom Coughlin says of the new uniforms, “A traditional, classic, distinctive National Football League uniform that could be related to.” “We have three players that should be in the Hall of Fame. Tony Boselli should be in the Hall of Fame, Fred Taylor should be in the Hall of Fame and Jimmy Smith should be in the Hall of Fame. The thing that's important for me in thinking about this uniform is the connect. The players of the 2018 Jacksonville Jaguars will wear a uniform, that when they see those three people inducted into the Hall of Fame, they can relate directly to that. That's the distinctive, traditional, classic, uniform of the Jacksonville Jaguars.”
According to Nike's Design Director of NFL and NCAA Apparel, Nate Retzlaff, there are no seams on the front of the jersey and shoulders which will help improve stretch, mobility, range of motion and durability. Additionally, the uniform weighs only 20.4 ounces, which is nearly four ounces lighter than the industry standard for Nike Football uniforms.
