It all went down on a "Tonight Show" segment.

Ariana Grande recently made her triumphant return to music following last year's devastating Manchester bombing that left 23 people dead, including the attacker. "No Tears Left to Cry" the single that proceeded Grande's emotional turmoil, debuted at number two on the Billboard Hot 100, and has remained in the top ten ever since.

Taking to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the multi-platinum chanteuse was joined alongside the show's host and resident in-house band The Roots to perform "Tears" with the help of Nintendo Labo Instruments. Dressed as chemists experimenting in a melodic laboratory, the performers succinctly remade Max Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh's lush electronic production using less sophisticated equipment. Peep the endearing performance below:

Grande appeared on The Tonight Show earlier this month, where she detailed her latest album Sweetener and its contextual implications. She described the studio sessions as a "really awesome experience," having worked with the likes of Pharrell, Martin, and others. The title is derived from a philosophy of "bringing light to a situation or to someone's life or somebody else who brings light to your life, sweetening the situation."

The album is slated to be released later this year, with studio sessions dating back as early as September 2017.
