While he may have only been in the game for a minute, YBN Nahmir has already picked up a lot of knowledge about the industry. From his short time in the limelight, he knows that his authenticity and genuine character are what is most important to him. Not intending to change up for any label, Nahmir is sharing his path with fellow rappers.
In a time where it appears to be much more fulfilling to remain an independent artist, nearly everybody seems to be unhappy with their record labels. In the last month, Skippa da Flippa, YFN Lucci and King Louie have all voiced displeasure towards their labels. Just yesterday, Montana of 300 shared his polarizing opinion of what the industry is turning young rappers into. Following up on the trend, YBN Nahmir has put in his two cents, advising his colleagues not to let anybody take advantage of them during their careers. "Don't let these industry n---as bring y'all out of character," exclaimed Nahmir as he filmed himself speaking to the camera. Although the message does not appear to be directed at anybody in particular, fans of the rapper are suspecting it to be focused on his affiliate YBN Almighty Jay, who has amplified his exposure via his relationship with Blac Chyna.
YBN Nahmir will be part of G-Eazy's Endless Summer Tour along with Lil Uzi Vert and Ty Dolla $ign. Performing at SXSW, he caught up with interviewer Nardwuar to give fans an eye into his life. Do you think YBN's advice is directed at anybody in particular?
