First-week sales numbers for Astroworld will be even higher than anticipated, according to a new report from Hits Daily Double. While it was first estimated that the Houston rapper's fourth studio album would move between 300,000 and 400,000 units at launch, that range has now been bumped up to 450,000 to 500,000 equivalent album units with 170,000 to 195,000 in traditional sales.
The album has earned some impressive streaming numbers, with 9 out of 10 of the Apple Music top ten being made up of songs from the album, as well as occupying 7 of 10 spots on the Spotify U.S. charts.
With these numbers, it is guaranteed that Travis will end Drake's 5-week reign at the top of the Billboard 200. Speaking of Drake, Travis' new collaboration with the Toronto rapper "Sicko Mode" is currently at No. 7 on the iTunes charts, and should make a big debut on the Hot 100.
Travis' previous album, Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 96,000 units. It was an Apple Music exclusive for two weeks.
First-week sales projections for new releases from Mac Miller and YG, whose respective albums Swimming and Stay Dangerous were also released Friday, have not yet been made available.
