A$AP Rocky sat down with Pete Rosenberg to talk about how different the experience crafting Testing was without A$AP Yams by his side. Testing was Rocky's first project completed without Yams in the fold, his judgement regularly called upon for all things A$AP Mob. The anecdote is part of a full interview segment that will on Fuse's next episode of Complex x Fuse on June 13.
"It wasn't the same without Yams. It's with any legacy that loses a pioneer, you got to keep going. Yams is a spirit and an energy," Rocky says in this preview clip, "He was always about discovering talent and trying to put new people on. I think that's what validated him in hip-hop and his knowledge of different genres and different music always helped."
Rappers associated with A$AP Yams continue to laud his curatorial touch, you'd have to think he saved his best ideas for comrade Pretty Flacko. Rocky compared losing Yams to Diddy moving forward without Biggie Smalls. His interview with Rosenberg also delves deeper into the album making process of Testing. Fans of A$AP Mob will undoubtedly like to hear Rocky unpack the general wisdom and mystique of a rap aficionado, we know by name, but know so little about. You can view a preview of the segment here.
