Sheck Wes' Mudboy debut is what the hooples play in secret. Wes representing Harlem to the fullest, is the second coming of The I.N.C, a shortlived Masta Ace project from the early 90s that brought bass culture up to the Catskills. Sheck Wes may die before he even learns of The I.N.C -- by all accounts both his project and Masta Ace's will be forever linked as the outliers in the traditional NY rap setup.
It's almost as if the virality of Wes' "Mo Bamba" has cast him under a shadow. The video depicting his crazed antics -- the Harlem courtyard depicted in his viral hit is as NY-centric as they come. Sheck's first studio project Mudboy offers several accounts of his Senegalese-American upbringing, but on records like "Gmail," the focus is less on upholding table manners than in other songs. Keep it at a decibel.
Quotable Lyrics:
I live aaa I live a Mudboy lifestyle, killers on speed dial
Don't fuck with Sheck Wes, we gon' break a ki' down
Call that bitch 2K, how she blow me out
Shoot it on the 4K, might just put the leak out
Hot boy lifestyle, pull up with them thangs out
N****, I'm from New York, outside where we hang out
I just sip that poison, n****s sippin' tea now
