When the NES and SNES classic editions hit store shelves two years ago, fans of the throwback gaming consoles emptied them out. The deal was part of a one-off limited edition run for Nintendo, who has devoted most of their time to their new Switch system. Fans who missed out demanded more systems, and blamed Nintendo for creating a scarce product. The video game company saw the overwhelming demand for the product and decided to introduce a new wave of the classic systems.
Nintendo took to Twitter and stated, "NESClassic Edition will return to stores on June 29! This system and the #SNESClassic Edition system are expected to be available through the end of the year." The NES classic is $59.99 and comes preloaded with 30 retro Nintendo titles, including "The Legend of Zelda," "Super Mario Bros.," “Final Fantasy,” and “Castlevania." The SNES is $79.99 and comes with 21 throwback titles, including "Donkey Kong Country," "Super Mario Kart," "Star Fox," and "Super Metroid." Both the aforementioned prices are initial sales values, and products have hit prices double that amount on Amazon and eBay.
