El-P
The sweet sounds of El-P are coming to your big screen.

El-P has been currently laying down production for Run The Jewels, employing barrages of dystopian synthesizers and aggressive, hard-hitting percussion. While he's certainly made his mark on the hip-hop landscape, it would appear that El Producto is seeking to broaden his horizons. After previously attempting to land a gig scoring Blade Runner 2049, El-P has kept his nose to the grindstone and found himself another gig. Stereogum reports that El has been officially signed on to score the new Al Capone biopic Fonzo, which is currently in production.

The film, which is being helmed by Josh Trank (who previously directed Chronicle and the maligned Fantastic Four), also stars Tom Hardy, Linda Cardellini, Jack Lowden, Matt Dillon, and Kyle MacLachlan. In a press release, Trank praised the rapper extensively, writing "since I was 14 years old, El-P’s music has been one of the most important creative influences in my life. There’s literally no greater honor for me than to collaborate with him today and bear witness to this next stage of his artistic journey."

Hopefully the talented Jewel Runner can follow in the footsteps of Trent Reznor and Jonny Greenwood, who successfully transferred from playing in bands scoring films. For some context, Reznor's work on David Fincher's The Social Network and Gone Girl has earned him universal acclaim, as has Jonny Greenwood's score for There Will Be Blood and the Oscar nominated Phantom Thread. El-P has big shoes to fill, but we have utmost faith.
