The Nicki Minaj version of Tory Lanez' "Shooters" is making waves on the internet.

With his recently released Memories Don't Die still gaining traction, Tory Lanez has much to celebrate. Yet one lingering narrative thread has fans scratching their heads. So the story goes, Nicki Minaj demanded her verse be removed from "Shooters" after Tory said something about it via text message. "I was telling her something about the verse, I wasn't saying it was bad or anything, her verse was incredible," explains Tory (see video below). "I was texting her, and it may have came off in a different way, she probably read it in a different way than I said it."

Perhaps Tory needed to throw some levity into his text game. Perhaps a simple "lol" would have sufficed. Either way, his message came off, in his own words, as "arrogant." Unfortunately for him, Nicki was having none of it.  Tory told us about the exchange, in which she replied with "'Well, n***a, it's not that serious, take my verse off the thing.’ We was like, aight." And thus, a Nicki-free "Shooters" was born. It's admittedly strange how this whole debacle snowballed over a text. Rappers, evidently, have no tolerance for disrespect, even at the molecular level.

As it happens, the original track has surfaced, albeit through dubious means. It features a prominent presence from Nicki Minaj, who is in full on boss mode throughout. In her first of two verses, she holds it down with a sturdy flow, spitting lines like "All I wanna do is go out trappin' with the girls, they say we bad, I say we some murderers, shawty say he got enough to pay for all my bitches, shawty, is you down to give the head to all my bitches?" Classic Minaj generosity, always looking out for the squad's best interests.

One has to wonder what Tory might have said to trigger this rift. All we can really do is make inferences. Keep an eye out for this one and sound off - better than the original or nah?
