Dwayne Johnson is a certified box office titan, having just secured the number one spot over the weekend with his new project Rampage. However, the actor is looking to expand his acumen beyond the big screen by dipping his toes into some new business ventures.
TMZ exclusively reports how Johnson's company has filed paperwork to trademark the name Mana, the first of many steps in launching an original tequila brand. The word mana is of Polynesian and Melanesian descent, and translates to "a supernatural force or power that may be ascribed to persons, spirits, or inanimate objects." Much like tequila, said force can be either beneficial or detrimental.
The Rock also provided a lengthy description of the term on Instagram when debuting a newly revised bull tattoo on his arm. "From the cracks and heavy damage in the bone representing life's hard lessons I've learned over the years. Just like scars and wrinkles - I'm so grateful to have 'em because they're earned. To the horns, not pointing up or out to the side, but pointing straight ahead representing relentless energy and forward progress. The core and anchor of this image is in the eye. Look closely and you'll find the life, energy, power and you'll feel the MANA (spirit). The eye tells the story of a disruptive positive energy always ready to dent the universe."
Johnson is an ardent enthusiast for tequila, as he's known to consume the liquor on his cheat days. Speaking about his role in the 2014 film Hercules, the actor admitted that "to prep as a demigod, in my opinion, is the occasional glass of tequila - sipped, not a shoot-up (shot). We're not back at college."
