Dozens of GOP lawmakers were involved in a crash today after a garbage truck collided with a train that was making its way to a policy retreat in West Virginia with the Republicans on board.
The crash took place in Charlottesville around 11 AM, where an Amtrak spokesperson tells The Associated Press that all crew members and passengers are well, but one fatality and injury came from those driving the garbage truck.
Rep. Tom Cole, R-Okla. said he saw a body wrapped in a tarp after the truck had been ripped in half. Several passengers on the traine got off and attempted to help on the scene.
The Republicans were heading to the Greenbrier resort in White Sulfur Springs to attend a three-day retreat. President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence are set to attend.
