Production for the final instalment is officially in the works.

Netflix's House of Cards was making major headlines for all the wrong reasons at the end of 2017. The series former lead, Kevin Spacey, was first accused of sexual assault in October when actor Anthony Rapp said Kevin made sexual advances on him when he was just 14-years-old. Following Anthony's public claims, Kevin responded with an apology over Twitter where he also came out and said he was gay.

As the months went on, more details on Kevin's inappropriate behaviour came to light as employees who worked on set with him made allegations, while others who worked with him detailed times he made racist remarks to crew members. Production of Kevin's Netflix Orginal was immediately shut down and the streaming platform cut ties with the actor - where they reportedly lost out on $39 million.

Variety now reports that production for season six of the political series has officially resumed today, and of course Kevin has no part. The final chapter will consist of eight episodes with Robin Wright taking the lead. Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver will also star.

House of Cards has scored 53 Emmy nominations since its premiere. The release date for season six has yet to be announced.
