Three of this year's finest rap releases -- Freddie Gibbs' Freddie, Rico Nasty's Nasty, and KEY!'s 777 -- share one thing in common: production from Kenny Beats. The former EDM DJ once known as LOUDPVCK has experienced a huge breakthrough as a rap producer over the last few months, and he's continuing his hot streak through a collaboration with yet another unique talent: Young Thug.
Thug, who has announced that he's dropping his Slime Language project next week and has something "special" planned in the immediate future, previewed a new track produced by Kenny Beats on his Instagram story Saturday. It features some high-register belting from the rapper on a characteristically colorful beat from Kenny. The beatmaker later tweeted out the video with confirmation that the track would be released soon, though it's unclear if we'll have to wait until the album is released to hear it.
Young Thug's last project was April's 3-track project Hear No Evil, which featured collaborations with Lil Uzi Vert, Nicki Minaj and 21 Savage. His last solo full-length was 2017's Beautiful Thugger Girls.
Last we heard, Thug's Slime Language was scheduled to be released on July 15th, though Thug later deleted the tweet announcing the date. Either way, it appears new music will be arriving in the near future.
