Jimmy Iovine Will Reportedly Stay With Apple Music As A Consultant

It didn't take long for Jimmy Iovine to reappear on our collective radar. It seems reports of him stepping down from his role at Apple Music were a tad premature. It looks as if Iovine will restructure his deal to allow him more time away from head offices. In a case of old dog having a rough go at walking away for good, Iovine has reached an agreement which allows him at least some of the networking power he has worked so hard to gather in a career spanning over 40 years.

Iovine is noted for his industry contact with Dr. Dre, with whom he helped create a palatable brand story for artists such as Eminem and 50 Cent. In their defense, those artists made it on their own merit, but it goes without saying that Jimmy Iovine took a calculated risk in signing those artists when other options were made available. That was then this is now.

At this point of his career, Iovine is being counted on as a jack of all trades. Starting in August, Iovine is said to be willing to do whatever Apple CEO Tim Cook "needs him to do." His planned exit raised a lot of concerns going forward vis-a-vis their executive branch, but all that seems to have been quelled with news of his return.
