Jim Carrey is one of the most polarizing comedic actors in Hollywood. His political paintings and existential statements have rubbed some people the wrong way, while others appreciate the legendary actors more proactive approach to politics and lifestyle. Carrey has been involved in several projects in the last few years, most notably Dumb and Dumber To and Dark Crimes, two movies within completely opposite genres. Now, Carrey is set to star in a Showtime series that falls in between comedy and suspense called Kidding.
According to a Showtime press release, "Kidding centers on Jeff, aka Mr. Pickles (Carrey), an icon of children’s television and a beacon of kindness and wisdom to America’s impressionable young minds and the parents who grew up with him. But when this beloved personality’s family begins to implode, Jeff finds no fairytale, fable or puppet will guide him through this crisis, which advances faster than his means to cope. The result: A kind man in a cruel world faces a slow leak of sanity as hilarious as it is heartbreaking."
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry reunites with Carrey for this new series. Kidding premieres Sunday, September 9th at 10 pm ET on Showtime.
