Cardi B's "Bodak Yellow" put a lot of pressure on her. The song's rise in popularity happened relatively abruptly and many wondered if she'll be able to do it again. Mind you, "Bodak Yellow" is a rare occasion of an artist's first major single shooting up to the top of the Billboard charts and going multi-platinum. She followed up the single with "Bartier Cardi" in December. The song wasn't nearly as popular as "Bodak" but it was still a strong effort by her. Two months later and the song is officially certified gold by RIAA standards.
Cardi B hit her Instagram earlier today to reveal that "Bartier Cardi" featuring 21 Savage has officially gone gold. She thanked her fans and her followers for helping move 500K equivalent movements and promised a music video is coming soon.
"Thank you everybody ❤️❤️ Music Video coming soon..You know you wanna party with Cardi," she wrote.
While "Bodak" is currently four times platinum, it took roughly the same amount of time for that song to hit gold status. Both songs took a little over two months to move the .5M units. "Bodak" then took another three months after going gold to hit Platinum. The amount of plays it'll receive will likely boost with the release of the music video.
In other Cardi B related news, she recently told fans the album is coming but to be patient for it. It's a vague update but hopefully, the album ends up dropping in time for the summer.
