Donald Trump decided to lash out at LeBron James on Twitter after the NBA player briefly touched on the presidency during an interview with Don Lemon. In the interview, LeBron walks Lemon around his I Promise school campus, and explains his hopes for the future while stating that he believes that Trump is using sports to divide us. "He's kinda used sport to kinda divide us, and that's something that I can't relate to because I know that sport was the first time I ever was around someone white. And I got the opportunity to see them and learn about them and they got an opportunity to learn about me and we became very good friends,” James stated in the interview. In response, Trump tweeted, "Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike!"
Less than 24 hours later, Melania released a statement via her spokesperson that supports Lebron James, despite the fact her husband just trashed him the night before. According to CNN, the First Lady's spokesperson, Stephanie Grisham, stated, "It looks like LeBron James is working to do good things on behalf of our next generation and just as she always has, the First Lady encourages everyone to have an open dialogue about issues facing children today. As you know, Mrs. Trump has traveled the country and world talking to children about their well-being, healthy living, and the importance of responsible online behavior with her Be Best initiative."
"[The first lady's] platform centers around visiting organizations, hospitals and schools, and she would be open to visiting the I Promise School in Akron," continued Grisham. It looks like Melania and her husband may not be on the same page. Then again, maybe they are.
