It seems like every other day, Drake's breaking some sort of record with his single "God's Plan." Within the first 24 hours of its release, it already broke records on Spotify and Apple Music. A week later, it would debut at number one of the Billboard Hot 100. The song's been topping the charts on five weeks, and there's a good chance it'll stay their for a sixth. The success of the song's duration on the top of charts now makes him one of the few to do it within a quarter of a century.
Drake is now the 20th song within the past 25 years to have held the top position on the Billboard Hot 100 for this many weeks, according to Billboard's report. "God's Plan" now joins Taylor Swift, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Robin Thicke, Justin Timberlake, among many others, as one of the most dominant number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 list. The list also contains OG's like Elton John's "Candle In The Wind 1996/ "Something About The Way You Look Tonight," Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You," Celine Dions's "My Heart Will Go On," Bone Thug's "Crossroads" and Diddy and Faith Evans' "I''ll Be Missing You."
Also in the ranks is Baauer's "Harlem Shake" which Drake previously matched up with as the second song to ever hit more than 100M streams in the span of a week. Drake's latest single has been dominating the charts and for someone who already has so many accomplishments, his hunger is still their for more.
