Jrue Holiday came up huge for the New Orleans Pelicans in last night's victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, scoring a game-high 33 points, in addition to nine assists, as the Pels head back home with a 2-0 series lead.
Holiday's offensive explosion was a major factor in New Orleans' 111-102 win, but he also deserves credit for his defensive effort against Portland's All-Star point guard Damian Lillard. In Game 2, Lillard was held to 17 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the field, including 1-of-7 from 3-point range. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Lillard is 0-for-8 with two turnovers when Holiday is the primary defender in the series.
On top of Holiday's monster game, the Pelicans got the typical 22-point, 13-rebound performance from Anthony Davis and a near triple-double game from Rajon Rondo, who finished the night with 16 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.
The two teams will be back in action tomorrow night in New Orleans. Game 3, airing on NBA TV, is scheduled to tip off at 9:00pm ET.
