What makes Kevin Gates opinion on NFL anthem protest more relevant than say..NBA player Ben McLemore, is that some view the Baton Rouge rapper as a political martyr in light of the way he's addressed his legal situation. Roughly 22 hours ago, Kev popped up on Instagram for quick word with his followers. His message was clear: no man stands taller than God "when he/she is on their knees." It just so happens that this old proverb sort of aligns with Colin Kaepernick and his decision to skirt around the rules.
Kevin Gates' message reads as follows: "Say look, a lot of people are going to look at this fucked up. I love Colin Kaepernick. That’s my brother. I love his his beautiful queen Nessa. I love these people with all my heart. He should have never took a knee. Should have never took a knee. We bow for no man under the stars but Allah – he should have stood palms up."
Although it's unclear how the Islamic faith corresponds with the issue of systemic racism, or NFL protests, by the virtue of solidarity (which is inherently an Islamic value) Kevin Gates is allowed to voice his opinion. He believes Kaepernick should have never taken that knee, what's your perspective? Comment below.
