"Soccer might not be my game but I've got connections everywhere."

Floyd Mayweather doesn't describe himself as a "soccer guy," but he is a fan of Newcastle. And if the Newcastle United soccer club needed new ownership, the billionaire boxer would consider dipping into his funds to make a bid.

In an interview with the Sunday Daily Star in England, Floyd entertained the possibility of owning the English Premier League team if the move could make him even more money.

Mayweather tells the Sunday Daily Star (H/T CBS Sports):

"I love Newcastle. Those guys like to party as hard as any city I have been to anywhere in the world," said Mayweather, who in 2017 did a tour of speaking engagements in the United Kingdom. "I met some of the players last year and they are good guys. I am always open to new business opportunities and I love all sports, but I invest with my head not my heart."

"Investing with your heart is the quickest way to lose money," Mayweather said. "But if somebody put together a business plan and my people looked over it and went 'Floyd, that can make money,' then I would invest. Soccer might not be my game but I've got connections everywhere."

If Mayweather's team were to put together a business plan and his people did say, "Floyd, that can make money," the 41-year old legend says he'd like to get Cristiano Ronaldo on Newcastle to finish out his career.

"Cristiano Ronaldo has been a long-time supporter and buddy of mine, so I might even be able to get him to finish his career off at Newcastle."

We'll have to see if that time comes. But as of now, Floyd remains a happily retired boxer - who may or may not be actively training for his MMA debut.
