HNHH PREMIERE. Derin Falana seeks well-earned validation on "Say You Love Me."

Following up his recent farewell to the summer months, Derin Falana has returned to the fold, bringing forth a welcome dose of vulnerability on "Say You Love Me." The emotional banger finds Falana taking to a piano-based instrumental spitting dense lyricism, evidenced by the warm-up stanza. "You say you love your lives I don't get that vibe, live till eighty but you really die inside at twenty-five" he raps, letting the build ride without percussion.

There's something inherently liberating about a rapper going in over a stripped down instrumental, and Falana wastes little space; though the absence of drums may feel occasionally anticlimactic, his early energy level more than makes up for it. Eventually, the boom-bap percussion kicks in switches, bringing forth an old-school energy from Felana, who flexes lyricism befitting of his intellect.

Quotable Lyrics

You say you love your lives I don't get that vibe,
Live till eighty but you really die inside at twenty-five
Was taught you gotta be the boss of your own enterprise
Not the rental cars, move to the beat of my drums
These are instrumental times
