Will Smith’s acting career surpasses versatility, and while his more dramatic roles have been the ones to land the multihyphenate critical acclaim, his comedic stylings are often the ones with the most cultural significance (See: Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Bad Boys).
While we’ll get to see a reprisal of such roles with the forthcoming installation of his Bad Boys saga alongside funnyman Martin Lawrence, it looks like Smith is still in the mood for some cinematic hijinks.
In a recent post on his Instagram, Smith took some time out to wish Kevin Hart a happy birthday as the comedian and actor celebrated his 39th birthday on Friday (July 6).
Will decided to upload an old clip of him crashing an Access Hollywood interview that Kev was giving reporter Liz Hernandez on the red carpet at CinemaCon. It was a comical encounter between the two Philly-bred men and might have pointed to some comedic chemistry that Will may be hoping to emulate onscreen. "Happy Bday, Kev! @lizhernandez needs to interview us for a REAL MOVIE! What’s Up, Sun?!? Before your next bday, Let’s make a movie! @kevinhart4real," reads the caption.
The aspiration may not be so far-fetched though as Kevin Hart was recently confirmed to be starring in the remake the 1974 comedy Uptown Saturday Night, which happens to be produced by Warner Bros. and Will’s own Overbrook Entertainment. While it won’t mark the duo’s debut together onscreen, with Hart actually taking on the role originally slated for Smith, a success could very well prove how well the two men work together.
