Ant-Man and The Wasp dropped yesterday, and the box-office is already being shaken up by Marvel's 20th film. The sequel is better than the original, with a fun story and heartfelt scenes. After the epicness of Avengers: Infinity War, it was refreshing to sit down and enjoy a film where the villain isn't trying to destroy all life. In fact, the villain in Ant-Man and The Wasp is only battling to save her own life. Marvel has always been spotty with their sequels (Iron Man 2, Thor: Dark World, and Avengers: Age of Ultron are perfect examples), but sometimes they pull off follow-up movie gold (Captain America: Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy 2). As expected, Ant-Man and The Wasp is killing the box-office. The film was projected to rake in $80 million opening weekend and it looks like the estimations were right. As reported by Variety, the sequel pulled in $33.8 million Friday, which includes $11.5 million in Thursday previews. That does not include today's ticket sales, but at this rate, Ant-Man and The Wasp will break $80 million this weekend, and could even surpass $90 million. The first Ant-Man opened with $57 million, so it's safe to say Marvel is very pleased with how this film has turned out for them.
