While he dropped what might very well be his hardest rap song to date, "GHOST," just last month, Jaden Smith's impending project is "not a rap album," as he clarified in a tweet Friday. That project, last we heard, is either titled SYRE: The Electric Album, ERYS, or SYRELand, and is scheduled to be released on Sunday. According to Smith, it will be premiered on Instagram, presumably through the platforms new video feature IGTV, which allows up to one hour of video for certain users.
Jaden released his debut album SYRE in November 2017. It featured guest appearances from A$AP Rocky, Raury, and his sister Willow. According to Smith, it was three years in the making, which makes the new project a comparatively quick follow-up. While SYRE featured various influences, it was very much a rap album. It's unclear which direction Smith is taking his new work.
Smith performed at the Miami Rolling Loud festival in May. His set featured a particularly lively performance of "GHOST," which, at the time, had yet to be released. Watch it here.
Last month, Jaden released a reggaeton remix of his single "Icon," which featured a guest appearance from his very famous father Will Smith.
Look out for Jaden's sophomore project tomorrow.
