While fans are highly anticipating the release of Astroworld, Travis Scott's had some lawsuits he's had to address. Earlier in the year, Travis Scott was set to do the impossible when he scheduled to perform in Minneapolis and Vegas in the span of an evening. The Minneapolis set was part of the Super Bowl Weekend but he ended up not showing up. His no-show led to a lawsuit from the promoters for pocketing the $150K advance he got without holding up to his end of the bargain. However, Travis Scott isn't letting this lawsuit go without a fight.
Travis Scott has reportedly filed a counter lawsuit against PJAM in the Super Bowl Weekend no show concert case, TMZ reports. In the court documents, Travis Scott reportedly says that he didn't receive a confirmation for travels plans up to February 3rd, which was the day of his scheduled performance.
However, Scott does admit that they paid him $150K in advance, but he learned that PJAM never had the proper finances to cover his transportation or the remaining $50K he was owed for the performance. While PJAM is seeking to get what they paid him back plus damages, Scott's suing to get the rest of his $50K. In addition, he's also claiming the company violated their confidentiality agreement for allegedly leaking information to TMZ about the performance.
Scott's lawyer, Howard King, claims PJAM's lawsuit is a way of squeezing every penny out of Travis.
"[The lawsuit is] an obvious effort to shake Travis down and avoid the consequences of their breaches. Instead of pursuing a misguided attempt to spin the narrative and salvage their tattered reputation, the responsible step would have been for PJAM to pay Travis the balance of his fee and move on to their next opportunity." He said, "Travis apologizes to any fans who were duped by these promoters into showing up at the cancelled show even after the promoters failed to take the steps to get Travis there."
