"World Of Wakanda" Author Roxanne Gay Hurt By "Black Panther" Premiere Snub

Last night, Marvel's "Black Panther" premiered in Los Angeles, with appearances from Angela Bassett, Daniel Kaluuya, George Lucas, Stan Lee, Michael B. Jordan, Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong'o, Donald Glover, the cast of Black-ish, and more. And while the event was an undoubtedly star-studded affair, there was one person who felt some type of way about her lack of invite. Author Roxanne Gay, who wrote the Black Panther comic book series "World Of Wakanda," was ultimately left off the guest list, which comes as a surprise given the fact that she's Marvel's first female black lead writer. 

In a series of tweets, Gay shared her disappoint over the lack of invitation, admitting that the slight left her feelings hurt. "My feelings are real hurt that I didn’t get an invite to the Black Panther premiere," she wrote. "I mean goddamn Marvel. Goddamn." Admittedly, the perceived slight hasn't affected her desire to catch the movie, but still - you'd think Marvel would have threw the writer a bone, especially considering how she's breaking social barriers with work. In case you didn't know, Roxanne Gay's "World Of Wakanda" centers around the Dora Milaje, Black Panther's two female bodyguards.

It should also be noted that fellow Black Panther authors Ta'Nahisi Coates and Christopher Priest were absent from the event as well. Perhaps the premiere was simply a writer-free zone. Either way, check out Roxanne Gay's tweets below.
