Atlantic Records is beginning their foray into the popular podcast world.

Podcasts have been the craze for a few years as they are a fantastic way to get an inside view of most things in the music industry, or any other industry, depending on who is hosting the talk. Usually, they come with exclusive interviews and insider knowledge that the public craves. For this reason, it is no surprise that Atlantic Records has begun a new podcast initiative, manned by VP Tom Mullen, to produce their own in-house content in a designated podcast studio in their New York offices.

Podcasts offer a great platform for storytelling, which will be the focus of Atlantic's new venture as CEO Craig Kallman and COO Julie Greenwald have commented, "Music-making is at the heart of our company, and we already have a state-of-the-art recording studio at the center of our offices. We have a constant stream of artists coming through the building, so the next logical step for us was to create an environment where we could spontaneously capture them telling their stories and talking about their music."

The step seems like a natural one as Atlantic has kept music at the center of their mission since Ahmet Ertegün founded the company in 1947. Their list of podcast collaborators is yet to be revealed but we're confident that Atlantic has the ability to make it to the forefront of the podcast business.
