Former NBA star Dennis Rodman checked himself into a rehab facility in Paterson, New Jersey last week, just days after he was arrested for DUI in Southern California.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ Sports, The Worm was charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI stemming from the January 13th arrest in Newport Beach, California. Cops say Rodman, 56, had been swerving and blasting loud music in his car, and that his blood alcohol level was more than double the legal limit. He reportedly tested at .21, which is approximately 2.5 times the legal amount, according to reports.
Additionally, he was on probation at the time of his arrest from his 2016 wrong way crash case, and if the judge revokes Rodman's probation, he could face jail time. Rodman has already checked out of the Turning Point Rehabilitation Center, but he is reportedly taking accountability for his actions over the years.
“He’s been working with psychotherapists as well as in group recovery classes,” Rodman’s rep confirmed to TMZ. “[Rodman] has finally been accountable for his behavior from alcohol over the years.”
Rodman now reportedly plans to return to California to continue long-term treatment. In a video posted on social media, he says, “Just thanking all you guys out there [for] showing all your respect and love, for me to try to get things right. [I’m] hoping that things will be right, not perfect, but somewhat on the right path. See you guys soon!”
