As we near the end of March we've been getting more good-ass music coming in each and every week. This past week we saw the underground circuit drop several dope tracks (from King Chip to the Flatbush Zombies), and we've rounded the best five cuts for you to check out here. Randomly enough, it seems to be a strictly East Coast/Midwest affair on UA this week, with Detroit, Chicago, New Jersey, New York and Cleveland all represented.
chip
Underrated Audio: March 12-18
King Chip, a Cleveland native, now resides in
the always-sunny Los Angeles. With this transition a new project is coming,
aptly titled Clevelafornia. And it’s about time we get some new Chip
material. “Under Palm Trees” finds Chip
stunting on a level, as he lives the life of a “Cleveland nigga smoking under
palm trees.” Must be nice. Chip is usually one to bring something different/original
to his raps though, and this one is missing a certain something, I can’t put my
finger on. Nonetheless, the music is appreciated
tsu
Underrated Audio: March 12-18
I’ve been listening to a lot of
Tsu Surf since he
dropped his new mixtape
A New Mood. It’s a quality project I’d definitely
recommend checking out if you’re looking for something new to add to your
iTunes, from beat choices to bars, Tsunami delivers. I thought the beat on this
particular track was pretty crazy to flow over, but both Tsu and Trev handle it
like it’s nothing. I think we’ll be
seeing a lot more of the battle rapper Tsu Surf after
A New Mood.
boldy
Underrated Audio: March 12-18
Only a
rapper who waxes poetic like Boldy James could get away with such a song title.
Title aside, the song is a typical underground anthem from the
Concreature. He tells a story and flows
almost in a conversational way over a haunting beat from M. Stacks.
chance
Underrated Audio: March 12-18
Chance the Rapper seems to be next on the
come-up. The rapper hailing from Chicago goes in on his “Good Ass Intro” which
features some female vocals throughout and breaks down several times to create
a unique listening experience. It definitely sounds like a good ass way to introduce
fans to his album Acid Rap which he’s dropping April 30th.
flatbush
Underrated Audio: March 12-18
It’s a Beast
Coast connection on this collaboration between Flatbush Zombies and The
Underachievers. Underground fans definitely welcomed this song with open arms,
which features two different New York-native rap groups who mesh well together.
The crews says no to religion and ask fans to do the same.
