Lana Del Rey builds a hypnotic soundscape on "Venice Bitch."

In today's day and age, a near-ten-minute song will likely be reserved for only the most patient of listeners. And while Lana Del Rey's new single may cruise directly over the heads of "Everything Now" types, those willing to make the investment will find much to enjoy. Simply put, "Venice Bitch" is a washed out, West Coast daydream, in which the haze sinks within you. Lyrically, Lana takes to the expansive arrangement with her usual quotables, which might have made for premium Myspace statuses during a foregone era.

"Fresh out of fucks, forever, tryin' to be stronger for you," croons Del Rey, one of pop's edgier personalities. "Ice cream, ice queen, I dream in jeans and leather." The extensive single arrives alongside an album announcement; expect her new project, Norman Fucking Rockwell, to arrive sometime in 2019. In the meantime, close some lights and prepare to zone out.

Quotable Lyrics

Give me Hallmark
One dream, one life, one lover
Make me happy and blue
Norman Rockwell
No hype under our covers
It's just me and you
