The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series will continue to captivate moviegoers with an upcoming adaptation of The Girl in the Spider's Web. The film is based off the story by David Lagercrantz, which is the first not to be written by the late Stieg Larsson, who penned the first three bestselling novels in the Millennium series.
Despite the English-language adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo garnering Oscar nominations and healthy box-office receipts, planned sequels were ultimately stuck in developmental limbo, effectively forcing Sony to re-launch the franchise with an all new cast and director.
Claire Foy, of Netflix's The Crown, is cast as Lisabeth Salander, with Fede Alvarez (Don't Breathe) directing the forthcoming cinematic affair. The trailer depicts Salander punishing a wealthy and abusive man, as she ultimately sets his battered wife free from her toxic domestic life.
