Colin Kaepernick is nearing the end of his $1 million pledge, having donated over $900,000 to 30+ different organizations thus far. The former 49ers QB took to social media last week to explain how he'll distribute the final $100,000 with the help of his celebrity friends.
According to Kaepernick, the final round of donations will come in the form of a 10-day initiative, in which he’ll donate $10,000 to an organization that a celebrity will match. For instance, Meek Mill and Kaepernick have today pledged $10,000 each to Philadelphia's Youth Service Inc.
"Despite my brother’s current circumstances, he continues to stay involved and connected in the community of his hometown of Philly," Kaepernick said, per TMZ Sports. "I’ve spoken to Meek several times since his incarceration and during one of these calls, is when he pledged...we’re both donating $10,000 each for a combined $20,000 to Philadelphia’s Youth Service Inc."
In addition to Meek Mill, Kaepernick has also already partnered up with Golden State Warriors All-Stars Steph Curry and Kevin Durant, as well as Serena Williams and Snoop Dogg, who donated $25,000 to Mothers Against Police Brutality.
Kaepernick plans to announce his tenth and final $10,000 donation later this week, thus completing his million dollar pledge to organizations that work in oppressed communities, which he started in September of 2016.
