University of Texas freshman Mohamed Bamba as officially declared for the 2018 NBA Draft, as everyone expected. The 7-foot center released a brief statement today announcing his decision to make the leap to the NBA after one season with the Longhorns.
"After an incredibly rewarding year at the University of Texas, I will not be returning to school as I will be entering the NBA draft," Bamba said in a statement, via ESPN.
Bamba, who had 13 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks in Texas' loss to Nevada in the NCAA Tournament, has a 7'9 wingspan and a 9'6 standing reach. The 19-year old star averaged 12.9 points and 10.5 rebounds in addition to 3.7 blocks per game which ranked second in the country.
While his offensive game is a work in progress, he is a force to be reckoned with on defense and is expected to be a Top-5 selection in the June NBA Draft.
