As Chris Paul dribbled out the clock last night in Utah, with the Houston Rockets on the verge of securing their 13th straight victory, the Point God high-fived a fan seated courtside. As it turns out, the recipient of the high-five was James Harden's mom, and the act of high-fiving someone who is standing out of bounds constitutes a turnover - regardless of how much time is left on the clock.
Despite the fact that the game had already been decided, the official blew his whistle and gave the ball to the Jazz. Paul finished with 15 points, seven assists, six rebounds and two turnovers, one of which could've easily been avoided had he waited 10 more seconds to celebrate with Harden's mom.
After the game, both players joked about the incident.
Houston's 96-85 victory over the Jazz last night marks their 13th straight win, which keeps them a half game up on the Golden State Warriors for the best record in the NBA. Paul and the Rockets, 47-13, will take to the court tomorrow night against the Clippers as CP3 makes his return to Los Angeles to face his former team. That game will air on ESPN at 10:30pm ET.
