The late night television host is responding to another of Trump's remarks.

The Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting has been circulating amongst respective news outlets for almost two weeks, bringing forth an integral discussion about gun violence and its prevalence in America. Every journalist, talk show host, news anchor and special guest interviewee have been engaged in a ceaseless conversation about how to mend this phenomenon that unfortunately kills thousands of people annually. Some individuals vehemently support stricter gun regulations, while others are perfectly content with the accessibility of firearms to most American citizens.

As always, the commander in chief, Mr. Donald Trump, must lead this debate and use his elevated platform to prompt some sort of change. Trump has already suggested that school teachers should come equipped with a firearm as a protective measure for the future. The president even suggested giving raises to those "brave" men and women who took on this added responsibility.

This dubious suggestion was mostly influenced by news that security personnel supervising Stoneman Douglas high school did not even enter the building upon hearing gun shots, so arming teachers with deadly weaponry seems to be a better solution. However, Trump also insisted that had he been present whilst this egregious act of terror was perpetrated, he would have run in, armed or not, to protect those innocent individuals inside.

Obviously, this claim has fuelled punchlines since it was first uttered, as late night talk show hosts took Trump's very obvious bait and ran with it. Most notably, Stephen Colbert sunk his teeth into the remark in his traditional deadpan manner.

Colbert reveals how "at this point, I go to bed every night believing there's nothing he could say or do that could possibly surprise me. Then, the sun comes up." The late night host is not particularly convinced by Trump's statement, noting how "there’s a lot in there that I doubt, but the part I really don’t believe is that he can run."

Colbert believes Trump needs to spice up the "fantasy world" he's living in. Peep the rest of this amusing segment below:
