Kanye West has chosen a pretty unconventional marketing strategy (or lack thereof) for his upcoming album Yeezus, releasing no singles, offering no pre-order, and projecting a video for one of the album's tracks in random locations worldwide. Apparently 'Ye has at least one more trick up his sleeve before the June 18th release date, at least according to reports.
“Kanye spent the weekend shooting an American Psycho-inspired video in Brooklyn with Scott Disick and Jonathan Cheban,” a sourced told In Touch. “Jonathan actually gets killed in the end.” The video was reportedly shot at Brooklyn Fireproof soundstages, and will be released later in the week to generate hype for the LP. “Kanye wants the video to go viral and drum up more publicity for his album,” said the insider.
The source then went on to contradict Kanye's recent rant at the Governor's ball in which he said "Honestly at this point, I could give a fuck about selling a million records as long as I put out an album for the summer that y'all can rock to for all fuckin' summer," claiming that the rapper is actually very concerned about his sales, and hopes the video will go viral, helping to increase his numbers. “Kanye is definitely on edge and nervous about how this album will sell. He won’t promote it the normal way, and he wants to create buzz with all these weird, secret demonstrations.” the source revealed.
This is not the first rumor that suggests 'Ye is frantically making changes to the album and its promotion in the weeks leading up to its release, with reports pointing towards Kanye recruiting Rick Rubin to executive produce the album at the last minute.
