Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles reportedly prevented a thief from stealing valuables, including his truck, while at a Jacksonville Beach house party held at the home of teammate Brandon Linder on Wednesday night.
According to the report, 18-year-old Joseph Horton broke into several vehicles parked outside of the party, including Bortles' Ford F-150, which was unlocked with the keys inside. Surveillance video showed Horton taking Bortles' wallet from the truck and witnesses say the teen tried to drive away in Bortles' F-150 but was boxed in by other cares so he instead decided to enter the home. That was another poor decision.
Bortles and two of his friends held Horton under "close watch" until police arrived, according to WJXT-4.
"Neither the homeowner nor party guests recognized the man, which is when police were called."
"Horton told police he was at the party looking for a former girlfriend, but no one at the party knew whom he was talking about."
Horton was arrested and charged with burglary, trespassing and grand theft. Bortles wallet, which was taken out of his truck, was later found outside of the home.
